Jupiter High School gets extra mental health support after student emergency

Many parents and students continue to have questions about a student medical emergency that prompted a lockdown and tense day at Jupiter Community High School on Thursday.

While we don’t know the exact circumstances surrounding the medical incident because of privacy laws, we do know it had a big impact on the school community.

Every Palm Beach County public school has a counselor and behavioral health specialist on campus. But something like Thursday’s emergency brings out more support with therapy dogs, additional counselors, and really a whole team.

But what does that look like to those going through it?

Wallingford schools report gains in student academics, wellness

WALLINGFORD — Administrators from the high schools and middle schools presented plans for continuing to improve academics and student wellness at this week’s Board of Education Instructional Committee meeting.

Joseph Corso, principal of Lyman Hall High School, and Enzo Zocco, principal of Sheehan High School, started off the presentation with academic updates at the high school level.

Corso said both high schools’ administrators look heavily at PSAT and SAT testing data. The PSAT results show students are improving.

Claiborne High School coach reinstated until end of football season

Several community members gathered at a Claiborne County Board of Education meeting Thursday.

CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tenn. — A Claiborne County high school coach was reinstated until the end of the football season after he was released from his duties at the end of August, education leaders said on Thursday.

The Claiborne County Board of Education met a Claiborne High School for a board meeting on Thursday. Several parents and community members joined them for the meeting after learning Nathan Medlin was released from his duties.

The district had assigned a new head football coach to the school — Nick Nash.
