Teach it, live it: High School science teacher honored for environmental education | Local News Stories

A Lake Havasu High School AP science teacher was recognized for the passion she brings to her job.

Ali Porosky, LHHS’s ecology, integrated science and environmental science teacher, was named the 2022 outstanding environmental educator for grades K-12 by the Arizona Association for Environmental Education. Since starting her teaching career 10 years ago, the AAEE says Porosky has been “a champion for environmental education, sustainability, and conservation.”

Wallingford schools report gains in student academics, wellness

WALLINGFORD — Administrators from the high schools and middle schools presented plans for continuing to improve academics and student wellness at this week’s Board of Education Instructional Committee meeting.

Joseph Corso, principal of Lyman Hall High School, and Enzo Zocco, principal of Sheehan High School, started off the presentation with academic updates at the high school level.

Corso said both high schools’ administrators look heavily at PSAT and SAT testing data. The PSAT results show students are improving.

North High School to open Career and Technical Education Cent

In addition to a new CTE center, North High will also receive a major remodel.

MINNEAPOLIS — Construction officially began Friday on a new Career and Technical Education Center at Minneapolis North High School, with a ceremonial groundbreaking attended by Mayor Jacob Frey and other city and school leaders.

The new CTE center, along with a major remodeling of the existing North High building, will take about a year to build. It is expected to open for the 2023-24 school year and will serve all of the Minneapolis Public Schools.

A couple of dietitians did and massive literature review looking for evidence that diet has an effect on major health conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
