‘He left an imprint.’ Mike Woodson back at Broad Ripple to honor the man who got him started.

Mike Woodson could not remember exactly how long it had been since he had returned home to Broad Ripple High School. But the man who helped him become a man was the reason he returned Tuesday afternoon.

Before Woodson, 64, was the Big Ten Conference player of the year at Indiana, played 11 seasons in the NBA, coached in the NBA and now, head coach at IU, he learned from Bill Smith at Broad Ripple.
