Pacer Advisors Inc. lowered its stake in shares of Grand Canyon Education, Inc. (NASDAQ:LOPE – Get Rating) by 25.4% during the third quarter, HoldingsChannel.com reports. The institutional investors owned 78,077 shares of the company’s stock after selling 26,651 shares during the quarter. Pacer Advisors Inc.’s holdings in Grand Canyon Education were worth $6,422,000 at the end of the most recent quarter.

Claudine Gay Makes History as First Black Harvard President | News

Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Claudine Gay made her second historic first on Thursday when Harvard announced her selection as the University’s 30th president — the first person of color to hold the role.

Gay previously made history when she was appointed as the first person of color and first woman to serve in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences’ top post. Gay, who will succeed President Lawrence S. Ohio Senate OKs shift in oversight of education to governor

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The latest proposal to give Ohio’s governor more power overseeing K-12 education cleared the Republican-led state Senate on Wednesday despite objections that lawmakers are rushing legislation to significantly change decision-making about academic standards, model curricula and school district ratings, among other things.

Oversight of the state’s education department would shift to a director appointed by the governor, instead of the State Board of Education and the superintendent it elects. 3rd lawsuit filed over alleged sexual abuse by Hidden Valley educational assistant in Whitehorse

A third lawsuit has been filed over alleged sexual abuse at the hands of an educational assistant at Hidden Valley Elementary School in Whitehorse.

A student and their parents filed a statement of claim to the Yukon Supreme Court last month. The document only recently became publicly available after a judge approved an order to anonymize the plaintiffs’ names.

The lawsuit targets former educational assistant William Auclair-Bellemare, the Yukon government Education Department and the Yukon RCMP via the Attorney General of Canada.

No statements of defense had been filed as of Sept. 7.

NB education minister to keep close eye on COVID-19

New Brunswick Education Minister Dominic Cardy answered some outstanding questions on the upcoming school year Wednesday, promising that if public health advises COVID-19 measures be reinstated, he will not hesitate.

That includes mandatory masking.

Right now, Cardy says he’s encouraging students and staff to do whatever they’re comfortable with.

“We’re still in COVID, we know that COVID is airborne, we know that COVID is going to continue to present stresses,” he said.

Cardy also said he’d like to see more children get the COVID-19 vaccine, now offered to children six months and older.
